Is the largest county by area in the state of Montana at 5,572 square miles with a population of approximately 9,500 people. For generations people have been drawn to Beaverhead County for its beauty, its heritage, and the lifestyle that rural living offers. Today, Beaverhead County is establishing itself as the premier destination for recreation, outdoor lifestyles, and is a lasting symbol of resilience.
Conveniently bisected by i-15 with an average daily traffic count of nearly 5,000 vehicles. We are home to The University of Montana Western with its nationally recognized Natural Horsemanship and rodeo programs (among many others), a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital, and world-renowned sporting opportunities.

 

Positioned within minutes of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, multiple mountain ranges, the Big Hole National Battlefield, and the Nez Perce National Historic Park. We are home to the Red Rocks National Wildlife Refuge, state parks, businesses of all sizes and within a days drive of some of best trout fishing and skiing opportunities in the world.
